New Year: 3 steps to a new you

New Year project

As a New Year dawns, we inevitably look back at the last 12 months and reflect on what changed and what didn’t.

We review our accomplishments, but focus more on those that might give us reasons to doubt whether or not that one thing you want to change will ever happen.

Even though some things don’t seem to change, the fact is things are always changing. It’s a scientific and spiritual fact that every moment is a moment of change. You could say our reality is nothing but a constant stream of change happening in the ever-present.

And yet it’s not about the thing that changes – whether it be your financial situation; intimate relationship; relationships with kids or family or business colleagues; or your body.

Change is always happening. But, more importantly, it’s actual Creation that will enable you to begin the changeThe question then becomes: “What is possible?”

There are three key areas to creating what you want from the flow of universal change:

Express gratitude: Cultivate an emotion of gratitude for the gifts in your life. Be grateful for what you have, even if it seems trivial. With gratitude comes compassion.

It doesn’t matter what religion you’re from as they all emphasize compassion for others. This isn’t possible without compassion for yourself, too. Gratitude affirms your connection with a universe that wants to extend your compassion as much as you have for others.

Focus on what you want: You would think this one would be a no-brainer, but you don’t have to look far to see people who react to life’s challenges with fear, which becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, creating the very thing they didn’t want. What you focus on expands. It’s as simple as that. If what you want is going to serve others and yourself, life expands that desire even more so, and will move to serve you. Shift the fear of what you don’t want to happen, and turn that focus to what you do want to happen.

Observe your belief system: A belief is the feeling of certainty about what something means. In other words we’re all making this up as we go along. If you believe a financial catastrophe means you can no longer pursue a dream, then bam, dream gone. But if you believe there is a greater purpose behind this catastrophe for you to become more of what you’re supposed to be, then guess what you’ll be, as long as you commit to that belief.

By recognising that change happens all the time, whether we want it to or not, we can share in the most absolute, undeniable truth of reality – all things change. We can become change. We are change. And we can help direct it.

Trust yourself. Love yourself. Be grateful and be accepting of this and every present moment. Believe the universe is here to work for you even through life’s challenges.

It’s here to reveal to you the person you’re to become in spiritual and actual richness. You are in an ever-constant state of change that will become your greatest vision if you allow it.

I wish you lots of happiness and have an amazing and prosperous year ahead.
